Are you passionate about helping transgender, nonbinary, and gender-diverse (trans+) people thrive and live free of hate and discrimination? Volunteer with a TRACTION event or project!
We’re looking for volunteers who:
- Share TRACTION’s core values, including anti-racism
- Understand trans+ people’s experiences and needs
- Have some knowledge of existing trans+ resources and services
- Have strong research and communication skills
- Enjoy talking to people
- Can dedicate 5-10 virtual hours per week
- Are empathetic, patient, and committed to our community’s well-being
- Are at least 18 years old (16 for some positions)

Volunteer Position Descriptions
Project Open Arms
Helping trans+ red state refugees relocate to safety
- Data wranglers help find and maintain informational resources for refugees and the trans community in general and work with the relocation managers and peer navigators to design personalized referral lists based on applicants’ needs. A strong knowledge of trans and queer culture, communities, and resources are preferred. Must be 16 or older.
- Relocation managers help applicants with relocation process logistics, including (as needed) scheduling intake interviews, providing communication and coaching, helping the applicant develop a plan, and helping to finalize moving plans and logistics. Good people skills, motivational interviewing, and a strong knowledge of trans and queer culture, communities, and resources are preferred. Must be 18 or older.
- Peer navigators will help refugees enter and adjust to their new communities, specifically focusing on the unique needs and considerations that may arise when a trans+ person moves to a new location, which could include finding gender-affirming healthcare, navigating potential social challenges, and ensuring a safe transition to a new community. Advanced level role. Experience in case management, social work, peer support, or counseling is helpful. Good people skills, motivational interviewing, and a strong knowledge of trans and queer culture, communities, and resources are preferred. Must be 18 or older.
- Resource providers are trans+ and allied people or groups with rooms, couches, rides, services, funds, and other resources available to help relocate displaced trans+ people.

Our media team produces a variety of community-based audio and video programs. It takes a village of:
- Writers & journalists
- Podcasters, bloggers, influencers, content developers

Keeping you up-to-date on trans+ events in WA and across the U.S.
- Event contributors – add your organization’s events, meetings, and activities to help spread the word
Vibes! live music showcases & other in-person events
Concerts, events, and gatherings celebrating trans+ joy and community, featuring trans+ artists and activists
- Performers
- Stagehands/sound techs
- Event assistants – take tickets, help with security, etc.
